3D BEAM SPLITTER

iPhone Multi-focal, aligned at eyeline

2 CAMERAS ARE BETTER THAN ONE

Product Goal:   Evaluate and analyzing the eyeline and the effect of a teleprompter positioned just below a 3D beam splitter and most importantly, all footage is captured using iPhones.

What We Made:   A two iPhone camera rig that can shoot landscape and portrait simultaneously. Our approach to aligning the eyeline with multi-focal length lenses involved the following setup:

• Two iPhone 16 Pro Max devices recording in Apple ProRes 4:2:2 HQ.
• A DoF adapter paired with Zeiss lenses, utilizing a wide 35mm focal length and a longer 100mm focal length.
• Both iPhones were mounted on a 3D beam splitter rig.
• Subject was positioned 10 foot away from the 3D beam splitter.
• An iPad Pro 12.9" was mounted just below the beam splitter to serve as the teleprompter.

Primary focus is on perfecting the subject's eyeline and their ability to read from the teleprompter without the viewer noticing.

Results:  Captured eyeline consistency across multiple focal points while ensuring the teleprompter had no impact on maintaining direct, natural eye contact with the lens and remained completely invisible to the viewer.
